Jewish Broadcaster Vanessa Feltz has been announced as LBC’s latest signing as a part of a revamp of the station’s weekend schedule, replacing presenter Sangita Myska.

The veteran presenter will host a new Saturday show starting 4th May, as part of a refreshed weekend schedule.

Feltz, who most recently has had a show on the now digital-only Talk TV, joins LBC amid social media speculation about the reasons for Myska’s departure.

Some posts on social media suggested that she had been taken off air due to her coverage of the Israel/Gaza war, and some listeners have signed a petition calling for the station to reinstate the journalist.

In particular, the speculation surrounded an interview she conducted with an Israeli government spokesperson the day after Iran launched an unprecedented missile and drone attack on Israel.

In a statement, LBC owners Global said it would “like to thank Sangita for her fantastic contribution to LBC and we wish her every success in the future”.

Feltz, who started her journalism career writing book reviews for the JC in the late 1980s, was chosen to front her own afternoon show, from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday, and will offer opinion, analysis and a “deep dive on what matters to the British public,” LBC said.

“After a long and passionate courtship, I’ve finally succumbed to the allure of LBC,” Feltz said about the appointment.

“Actually, I was powerless to resist. Global’s dynamism is mesmerising and it is THE high-octane station from which to broadcast, in this riveting election year. I can’t wait to join the Global family and get cracking. Brace yourself for May 4th – May the fourth be with you!”

Speaking to LBC’s Nick Ferrari about joining the station Feltz said she's been a “secret listener” for years and is delighted to be presenting a new show.

Tom Cheal, LBC’s senior managing editor, said: “Vanessa is a leading light in broadcasting who is outspoken, incisive and understands what matters to LBC listeners. We’re delighted to have her on board.”
